Meet the Goldens

Gentle, friendly and very happy to see you

The dogs are the heart of the centre. Here is what makes Golden Retrievers such good company.

Why Golden Retrievers make the best hosts

Few dogs are as readily associated with kindness as the Golden Retriever. Their soft expression and love of company make them an easy first dog to meet, whether you are eight or eighty.

At Golden Friends the Goldens are the reason the centre exists. Every visit is arranged around their comfort and good humour.

Friendly
Golden Retrievers are famous for liking people. They tend to greet visitors with a wagging tail rather than suspicion.
Patient
The breed is known for its steady temperament, which is why it so often features in family homes and assistance work.
Playful
They love a game, a cuddle and a bit of attention, and they bring a lot of warmth to a room.
Looked after first
The dogs at Golden Friends come before the schedule. A happy, rested Golden makes a better visit for everyone.

Rest matters as much as play

A Golden who has had time to sleep and stretch is a Golden who is glad to see you. That is why visits are booked in advance rather than left open to a crowd, and why we ask guests to let the dogs come to them.
